Outline

In Ukraine recently some measures directed towards the improvement of insurance legal environment have been undertaken, and a new kind of compulsory insurance was introduced (motor third party liability insurance). Therefore, one may expect further growth of the Ukrainian insurance market and insurance culture in the society. In developed countries insurance agents and brokers traditionally play a key role in insurance distribution. In Ukraine, in contrast, the institution of insurance brokerage is new and not widely spread. However, the creation of the effective insurance intermediation is crucial for wide distribution of insurance services.

During the Round table expert from the German Insurance Association, Volker Henke, highlighted the major requirements set by the EU legislation on insurance intermediary professional skills and regulation of brokerage. Representatives of State Commission on the Financial Market Regulation, League of the Insurance Companies, Association of Insurants of Ukraine, Federation of Insurance Intermediaries in Ukraine, insurance companies and insurance brokers participated in the discussion.
