Openness and transparency of Polish public finance in the light of international standards - law & practice.

On June 9, 2003, on the first stage of the Project "Openness and Transparency of Public Finance in Ukraine - A Comparative Study, Evaluation and Recommendations" *, the Institute for Economic Research and Gdansk Institute for Market Economics organized the Seminar "Openness and transparency of Polish public finance in the light of international standards - law & practice".

The speeches of Polish experts were dedicated to the issues of IMF and OECD standards on fiscal transparency and European Charter of Local Government in Polish law and practice. Moreover, there was given an outlook of the Code of ethics and anticorruption programs in the public finance system in Poland. The Researchers of IER presented short comments of the transparency of public finance in Ukraine.

Representatives from the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economy, the Verkhovna Rada, the Accounting Chamber, the Control and Auditing service, The Association of Cities of Ukraine, and NGOs took part in the seminar.
